Manfred in the desert of the Western Sahara

The mind, when pondering at night has always asked those questions. What are you doing in corporate wonderland, banking, university, office, church. Who is the other animal asleep inside, thinker, punk, creative, cowboy, vagabond, anarchist, healer, artist, writer, photographer, intellectual? Oh God dare you to think.

So when he sees the gamble, manipulations and lies he follows the old old dream, sets out for this journey that is called life, explore the world traveling overland.

Manfred is father of twin boys, Daniel and David.

Locusts.

Swarms of locust the size of small birds go up in the air as we drive past bushes and trees. In 2005 they were in part resposible for the famine that hit the region.

Essakane, Tamnana.

Traditional Touareg dance, danced at gatherings of nomadic tribes.

Such gatherings are being held several times per year as places to meet and interact, solve disputes, debate and listen and play music.

The Festival in the desert in Essakane north/west of Tombouctou continues the tradition of these gatherings.

Tamnana is the group performing.
